Is It Possible To Live Without A Car?

The rain forests of Brazil have been called ‘The Lungs of The Earth’. Without the Earths rain forests, this planet would be starved of oxygen. So why does mankind continue to decimate large areas of forests every month? Ignorance maybe the answer. Can modern man forsake the gadgets which make their lives so much more comfortable and easier? Picture a world where time is reversing, deforestation has drastically slowed, the air is fresher, and endangered wildlife is abundant. One person can make a difference.

Helping the environment is easier than people think. Simply putting a glass bottle into a designated receptacle for recycling will help. Walking to work one day a week and not using a car will assist in reducing air pollution. Gas is a supply and demand market, where there is a demand, companies will always supply. Refining companies pollute the atmosphere drastically in gas production and logistics. If 0.05 of the population in a country the size of America walked to work or school one day a week, that would dramatically reduce the 20 billion barrels of oil a day that the country uses. This would reduce harmful gasses being released into the atmosphere by ocean going tankers, refiners, and individual automobile drivers.

Aviation fuel is expensive and pollutes the upper stratosphere of our planet. Taking a vacation next year more close to home will ease the pressure on the planet; every little helps in saving the world from destruction. Recycled wood can be used for making new furniture. Adding recyclable materials to landfill is a waste of natural resources, even taking the products to the landfill sight causes pollution. Glass and tin cans which are casually thrown into the trash at home, could be put into a separate receptacle ready for collection or delivery to a recycling centre.
